About

Tape experts. Making tape as easy as disk.

Tape is the lowest-cost durable storage there is. It has also been the hardest to use. XPNTL Archive exists to change the second part without giving up the first.

Why we built it

Tape wins on cost. It should win on ease too.

Most archive software treats tape as a place data goes to be forgotten: slow to reach, tied to one vendor's format, and understood only by the one person who set it up. We come from the tape and storage industry, from drive design, media, diagnostics and the support desk, and we know what tape can do when the software around it is built well.

01

Works like the storage you know

A staging tier on disk or SSD takes in new data and serves recent restores at its own speed. Tape does the long-term keeping in the background.

02

Open, so it outlives us

Every file is written whole in open LTFS, so any cartridge reads on its own in any compatible LTO drive, with or without our software.

03

Proven, not just written

Files are hashed as they come in, verified after writing and re-verified on a schedule, with a dated readability report per cartridge.

04

Support that knows drives

XPNTL Sentry watches drive and staging health around the clock, and Sentry Pro adds the diagnostic tools we would use ourselves.
